Who is Dr. Dominique?

Dr. Dominique is a board-certified neurosurgeon

and is double-fellowship trained in neurosurgery.

 

Dr. Devanand A. Dominique is a board certified and fellowship trained neurosurgeon. Like his father, a neurologist, and his older sister, a family doctor, Dr. Dominique attended The Medical School at University College Dublin. Dr. Dominique completed his residency in neurological surgery at Temple University Hospital, in Philadelphia. He obtained additional training and experience through fellowship training at Harvard Medical School – The Brigham and Women’s Hospital and The Children’s Hospital -Boston. Dr. Dominique also completed a combined neurosurgical and orthopaedic spine surgery fellowship at The University of Toronto – Toronto Western Hospital.

Dr. Dominique served as the director of spinal surgery at Temple University School of Medicine and Temple University Hospital (2003-2008). Dr. Dominique was also the consultant neurosurgeon at The Shriner’s Hospital – Philadelphia. Dr. Dominique has authored and co-authored articles and book chapters published in the leading scientific journals and textbooks. He has presented his research and demonstrated surgical techniques in Canada, The United States, Japan, Korea, The United Kingdom, Turkey, India, and Indonesia. Dr. Dominique served as the Senior Delegate (USA – American Association of Neurological Surgeons) at the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies in Nagoya, Japan in 2007. He also served on the Spine Committee for the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies, for a four year term. Dr. Dominique secured extramural funding for his research, winning a research grant from the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation. As the director of spinal surgery at Temple University Hospital, the neurosurgery residents, under Dr. Dominique’s direction, won The Congress of Neurosurgeons research award for 3 consecutive years in 2006, 2007, and 2008.

Dr. Dominique has been designated as a Special Expert with Exceptional Qualifications by the United States Government, and provided expert testimony/ expert opinion to CMS. Dr. Dominique serves as a surgical educator, and teaches spinal surgical techniques to fully trained and board certified spinal surgeons. Dr. Dominique is a faculty member of the prestigious AO/ASIF Spine. Dr. Dominique teaches spinal surgery principles and techniques on a local, regional, national and international basis. Dr. Dominique has developed, presented and published a novel minimally invasive vertebrectomy and stabilization technique. His clinical interests include spinal robotics, minimally invasive surgery, spinal endoscopy, motion preservation surgery, cervical spine surgery and lumbar minimally invasive same day surgery for herniated discs and lumbar stenosis. Dr. Dominique is involved in product development and translational research. In 2007, Dr. Dominique was the honored guest of the Korean Spinal Neurosurgical Society, and an invited guest of the Japan Neurosurgical Society. Since 2005, Dr. Dominique has been recognized as one of “America's Top Physicians and Surgeons”, and as a “Best Doctor”, since 2011.

Dr. Dominique has been in practice in the Harrisburg area since 2009.  Since 2009, Dr. Dominique has been and remains the busiest neurosurgeon, in continuous practice, in the Harrisburg and Carlisle areas.
